Our mental, emotional and physical states influence each other. 

Let’s face it, without a healthy mindset and belief system, all of the kale in the world isn’t going to make you better.

Repeat after me… “My body restores itself to its naturally health state.” Now keep repeating it all day, every day.

Most of us have heard the following sayings:

What you think about, you bring about.

Your thoughts create your reality.

Change your mindset, change your life.

When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.

Thoughts are things.

You get the idea by now, I’m sure.

You know those stories about the people who were told they would never be able to walk again and defied all odds and ended up walking, despite everything their doctors may have said? We LOVE those stories. Why? Because we want to believe that kind of thing can happen to us. Because it can. and it will!

Well, I’m here to say that from my own experience, and everything I’ve read since becoming ill in 2006, it’s true…every bit of it. The deeper I got into the journey, the more I wanted to learn. The more I learned, the more I knew I could heal myself. The more I healed, the more I wanted to learn and so on.

But then I added this…

One day, however, about half-way into the journey, I added something new, something I had tried before but never could get into. I added MEDITATION.

I watched this video somewhere and the guy talked about a trick that helped him go from not being able to meditate to being able to meditate every day. That trick was simply setting his phone alarm for twenty minutes. AND turning off the ringer of course!

He was right. With the alarm set, I didn’t have to think about anything else (though we do) and I didn’t have worry about anyone calling me because the ringer was off. All I needed to do was to sit down and relax, and sit more, and more.

I really got into it, so I started setting the alarm for 22 minutes and then 25 minutes and well, you get the idea. I still do a minimum of 20 minutes at night, but I quickly added several series of guided meditations that used mantras that were done with Oprah and Deepak that I loved, and now I ‘usually’ meditate twice day.

It was a game changer. The meditations helped me calm down. I noticed my systems starting to settle and even when I was in pain or some silly new symptom emerged, I handled it with grace, knowing it would either be gone tomorrow, or I’d figure it out and I always did. One of the coolest parts was that no matter what was happening in my body, I could get into a position and mental space where I felt perfect and I hold on to those moments and remember them always.

So, if you want to take your healing to a whole new level, regardless of how much you’ve figured out about your health issues, start meditating. Don’t ‘try’, just do it!

Sit in a pretty quiet place in a comfortable position (there are no rules here so don’t use the fact that you can’t sit with your legs crossed as a reason to not sit) with your back upright and your head up, set your alarm for 20 minutes. Turn off your ringer, set your phone as far away from you as you can, close your eyes and just be.

Don’t worry about your thoughts. – You’ll have them.

Don’t worry about body twitches or sensations. – You’ll have them. Just let them be and go away.

Don’t worry about doing it wrong. There is no wrong. – Just do it.

This is just one of the videos he did on meditation. If you do a search for “Kyle Cease and Meditation”, you’ll find more. They are worth the time, and the videos are usually pretty short.
